People all over the world heard the sad
and terrible news, but nobody could believe it. How could Diana be dead? It
could not be true.
Princes William and Harry were at Balmoral, in
Scotland, with Prince Charles and the Queen and Prince Philip. Prince Charles
told them about their mother’s death. Diana’s body was taken to the Chapel
Royal at St James’s Palace. Then it was taken to Kensington Palace. Charles
Spencer, Diana’s brother, lived in South Africa. He flew to London immediately.
Diana’s mother, Frances, was at her home in Scotland. She, too, came to London.
But the Royal Family were still at Balmoral
on holiday. People began to dislike the Royal Family. People said these things
but still the Queen and the Royal Family stayed in Scotland. People put flowers
outside the gates of Kensington Palace. People wrote cards and left messages
for Diana. They waited for hours to sign a special book to remember Diana.
